Your Treatment Preparation & Aftercare Guide
When you invest in a course of treatments, what you do at home before and after each appointment can help support your skin and the results you achieve. This guide explains how to prepare your skin, how skincare and supplements may support your treatment course, and how to care for your skin afterwards.
Treatments such as Apollo Duet radio frequency work by warming the skin in a controlled way, encouraging its natural repair response and stimulating the cells responsible for producing collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid. Your body needs the right nutrients available to support these natural processes.
This guidance is particularly relevant if you are having a course of Apollo Duet radio frequency, TCA peels, Environ Cool Peels or certain Environ facial treatments. Your practitioner may also provide specific preparation or aftercare guidance, so please always follow their personalised advice.
Why Are Supplements Important?
When we carry out a treatment that creates or mimics a controlled wound-healing response, we are relying on your body to produce the result.
Vitamin C contributes to normal collagen formation, while nutrients such as antioxidants, zinc and essential fatty acids support normal skin health. If your body does not have the nutrients it needs available, it may not be able to respond as effectively as it could.
This is why I recommend supporting your skin from within while you are completing your treatment course, particularly when the aim is to stimulate collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid production.
How Do I Know If I Need a Supplement?
If you are not already taking a targeted supplement, you may not be getting the consistent level of vitamin C and other nutrients I recommend during a treatment course. This does not mean you have a vitamin deficiency. We simply want to make sure your body has the nutrients it needs while we are encouraging it to produce collagen and support the skin. The strength and quality of supplements can vary, which is why I recommend professional skin supplements containing targeted combinations of nutrients.
When Should I Begin?
Ideally, begin taking your chosen supplement a couple of weeks before your first treatment. If you can begin a month beforehand, that is even better, as it gives you more time to introduce the nutrients into your body before asking it to respond to treatment.
If you have booked at short notice, please do not worry. Start as soon as you can, because even beginning on the day of your first appointment is better than not beginning at all. For the best support, continue taking your recommended supplements throughout your entire treatment course rather than stopping after your first appointment.
Choosing Your Supplement
There are different options depending on your budget, your skin and the course of treatments you are having. You do not necessarily need to choose the most expensive option, and we can help you decide which is most appropriate for you.
Skin Vit C
Skin Vit C is the most affordable option and can be taken on its own. It contains vitamin C, zinc and acerola berry, providing a simple way to support normal collagen formation during your treatment course.

Skin Complete
Skin Complete is a mid-range option containing two supplements, Skin Vit A+ and Skin Antioxidant. It provides vitamin A alongside a blend of antioxidants for broader daily skin support.

Skin Collagen Synergy
Skin Collagen Synergy provides more targeted support for ageing skin and normal collagen formation. It contains a combination of vitamins, vitamin C and zinc in convenient daily pods.

Skin Aesthetic
Skin Aesthetic has been specifically designed to support skin around aesthetic procedures, making it the option most directly connected to this type of treatment course.
Each daily pod contains five supplements, including Skin Vit C, Skin Collagen Support, Skin Omegas+, Skin Antioxidant and Skin Co-Q10+. Together, these provide vitamin C, zinc, omegas, antioxidants and French maritime pine bark extract.

Skin Ultimate
Skin Ultimate is another complete daily supplement option, providing a combination of nutrients for top-level support throughout your treatment course.

The best option will depend on your skin, treatment, lifestyle and any other relevant factors, so please speak to the Mary Jeffrey team if you are unsure which one to choose.
Preparing Your Skin
Having a good skincare routine in place before beginning your course can help prepare your skin and support the results you achieve.
If you are having an Environ TCA peel or another Environ treatment, you will usually already be using Environ products. If you are having radio frequency, using Environ is not a requirement, but following an appropriate skincare routine beforehand may help support your results.
If you use another skincare brand containing active ingredients such as retinol or alpha hydroxy acids, please speak to us before your appointment, as you may need to stop using them for a few days before your treatment.
Before Your Appointment
To help prepare your skin for treatment
• Avoid sunbeds, tanning and significant sun exposure before your appointment.
• Avoid waxing or threading the treatment area immediately beforehand.
• Continue following the skincare routine recommended for you.
Please speak to the Mary Jeffrey team if you use retinol, alpha hydroxy acids or other active skincare ingredients, as you may need to stop using them for a few days before treatment.
You should also let us know about any medication you take or any changes to your health or medication since your consultation.
Please do not stop prescribed medication or skincare without speaking to the healthcare professional who prescribed it.
After Your Treatment
Your exact aftercare will depend on the treatment you have received, so we will always provide specific instructions during your appointment.
As a general guide:
• Avoid any further heat around the treated area for 48 hours.
• Avoid swimming pools, saunas, steam rooms and hot tubs during the initial recovery period.
• Apply your recommended SPF every day.
• Avoid retinol, exfoliating acids and other strong active products until we advise you that it is suitable to restart them.
• Continue taking your recommended supplements throughout your course.
Depending on the treatment, you may need to avoid holidays and significant sun exposure for up to six weeks.
