Maskne…. ?

Maskne, the skin woe caused by wearing face masks, has become a common struggle in our 'new normal.' This article offers practical tips to combat maskne, including proper cleansing, moisturizing, and regular mask changes. It also highlights skin supplements and online consultations as avenues to achieve healthy, blemish-free skin. Say goodbye to maskne!

So not only do we have to adapt to this ”new’ normal of wearing facemasks all the time, we now have the not so lovely maskne to contend with!

Does this sound familiar to you?
Don’t worry you’re not alone. Unlike normal acne which is usually caused by hormonal changes, maskne is caused by friction from your mask rubbing on the skin or trapped moisture creating the perfect environment for bacteria to thrive, resulting in maskne.

Maskne causes :
– Dryness
– Redness
– Breakouts
– Congestion
– Irritation directly where your mask comes in to contact with your skin.

How can I help clear my maskne ?
If masks are becoming part of our everyday life, we need to help our skin adjust to this, allowing your skin to be more
healthy and comfortable, giving you more confidence when you take the mask off.

Here at MJS we have some tips to help keep the maskne at bay.

TIP 1: CLEANSE YOUR FACE
Double Cleanse the skin twice a day with a gentle cleanser such as sebuwash or cleansing lotion to gently remove any dirt, makeup and bacteria lying on the skins surface. This will leave your skin feeling fresh and clean. Our environ focus care clarity range includes products specially formulated to clean, control and clear effects of the root cause of breakouts. Using proven ingredients like salicylic acid, AHA’s and tea tree oil.

TIP 2: MOISTURISE
By using a moisturiser with vitamins a, c, e and antioxidants you are helping the skins overall health, keeping it hydrated, healthy and less susceptible to damage.

TIP 3: PROTECT
By using the mineral sunscreen RAD SPF15 which uses titanium oxide your creating a barrier on the skin as it does not get absorbed which then leads the sunscreen to be able to act as a shield between the skin and mask.

TIP 4: CHANGE MASK REGULARLY
Try to change your mask if wearing all day every 4-6 hours at least and wash masks if cloth and not disposable at the end of every day to stop bacteria building up inside the mask.

TIP 5: FEED THE SKIN FROM WITHIN
Skin accumax is the wonder working supplement specially formulated for those with problematic, acne-prone skin.
